Goal: designing a building to maximize the use of natural light, and to add comfortable artificial lighting where needed.
Surprise: good lighting is difficult and often poorly done. Can you think of an area of your building where better lighting is necessary? If you start thinking about a lighting plan after you've finished your floor plan, you're already at a disadvantage.
Pay attention to what type of light you need in each area. Learn which light you prefer. Would you like your kitchen to have a 2700K warm white overhead lighting but 4600K crisp white task lighting when you're working with sharp knives? Me too.
We use LED lighting exclusively in our buildings.
